Batik Scarves by Sara Owen 100% Silk scarves that are dyed using the Batik processes. Batik is a wax and dye resist process used to decorate fabric. The fabric is stretched on a frame. The wax is applied with a brush, or drip pen called a tjanting. The fabric is then placed in a dye bath. The process is repeated with different color dyes until the design is achieved. The remaining wax is then removed and the garment is ready for wear. Each scarf is unique with its own design and colors. Dimensions of the scarves are 15" wide by 60" long. |

Wall Hangings
The piece shown here is weaving is an example of a weft
faced design. This piece was created by blending two different weft
colors together to create a gradient from dark to light, much the same way
you would mix paint colors together to create a color blend when painting.
It is made from 100% wool on a linen warp. I also create warp faced designs
which are primarily woven in cotton. |
