Ever since I can remember, I have been looking at photographs. I would pour through magazines, cutting out pictures that caught my eye. My walls were covered. They still are.

I then fell in love with taking photographs when I was 17. I must thank my father for taking the time and patience to teach me what he already knew and – better yet, he turned me loose with his collection of photo stuff. We just happened to have a darkroom in the basement.

I attended several colleges in Chicago and majored in commercial and fine art photography at Layton School of Art & Design in Milwaukee. I was fortunate to meet and eventually work with some very talented photographers who taught me some of the finer qualities on the art of photography. I have been a freelance photographer ever since. Although I do shoot in color, I prefer to work in black & white. This also allows me to do all of my own processing and printing.

I met Madeline Island for the 1st time on a road trip to Nova Scotia. There was something about this place that stuck in my heart. We bought some property a few years later and decided to make this our home base.

The Island is full of a wide mix of creative people that share a deep passion for art and a community that supports and encourages more. What more could you ask for?
