Hand-Built Beach Pit-Fired Ceramic Sculptures

Raku Pottery and Sculptures

Raku is a Japanese firing technique.  A glazed piece is fired quickly then, while while red hot, buried in a combustible material.  This process darkens the clay and brings out metallic colors and cracks on the glazed surface.  Click on the picture to see Deena's work or click here to read more about the process.
